Glad my sitar is back in the studio after many years!
Transporting a sitar whether by train, plane or automobile, is always a delicate endeavor. This instrument is incredibly fragile, it has a hollow neck and an empty pumpkin body.
Originating from Kolkata, India, this particular sitar was later transported to France, where I acquired it from a yoga master. This marks the fourth transatlantic journey it has taken with me.
"Is This A Sitar?"
Traveling with a sitar is not commonplace. Occasionally, people inquire about its peculiar shape and what lies inside. Those familiar with it often express admiration, saying things like "wow, cool!"
Above is a picture of the sitar case at the airport, ready to be loaded onto the plane. While this case isn't
ideal for air travel, it managed to get the job done.
The peak of the stress comes at the baggage claim. Will the sitar remain intact? After retrieving it, I promptly open the case and conduct a quick inspection.
Thankfully, everything is in order. Now, it's time to express gratitude to the baggage handlers who know how to delicately handle our beloved musical instruments.

Heureux de retrouver mon sitar dans le studio après de nombreuses années !
Le transport d'un sitar, que ce soit en train, en avion ou en voiture, est toujours une entreprise délicate. Cet instrument est incroyablement fragile, il a un manche creux et un corps vide en forme de citrouille.
Originaire de Calcutta, en Inde, ce sitar particulier a ensuite été transporté en France où je l'ai acquis auprès d'un maître de yoga. Il s'agit du quatrième voyage transatlantique qu'il effectue avec moi.
"Est-ce que c'est un sitar ?"
Voyager avec un sitar n'est pas chose courante. Parfois, les gens s'interrogent sur sa forme particulière et sur ce qu'il contient. Ceux qui connaissent expriment souvent leur admiration, en disant des choses comme "wow, cool !".
Ci-dessus, une photo de la valise de sitar à l'aéroport, prête à être chargée dans l'avion. Bien que cet étui ne soit pas idéal pour les voyages en avion, il a fait la job.
C'est au moment de la récupération des bagages que le stress est à son comble. Le sitar sera-t-il intact ? Après l'avoir récupéré, j'ouvre rapidement l'étui et procède à une inspection rapide.
Heureusement, tout est en ordre. Il est temps d'exprimer ma gratitude aux bagagistes qui savent manipuler avec délicatesse nos instruments de musique bien-aimés.
